Bee Mural in Wellington Ohio

The Wellington Bee & Pollinator Mural was born from a shared vision to celebrate the village’s natural heritage and its place along Ohio’s Pollinator Path. My design was selected by the Lorain County Beekeepers Association and Main Street Wellington, who wanted a mural that honored the essential role bees and pollinators play in our ecosystem — and reflected the heart of a community that works together just like a hive.

The mural’s imagery was inspired by the idea that pollinators are small but mighty, and that their work sustains life far beyond what we see. Wellington carries that same spirit. The village is known for its deep agricultural roots, its love of nature, and its commitment to protecting the pollinators that keep our environment thriving. This mural became a way to visually share that story with residents and visitors alike.

One of the most meaningful parts of this project was the community paint day. Families, children, local artists, and neighbors came together — brushes in hand — to help bring the mural to life. People of all ages added color, detail, and joy to the wall. It wasn’t just a painting event; it was a moment of connection, pride, and shared purpose. The mural became a reflection of the community because the community helped create it.

Today, the Wellington Bee & Pollinator Mural stands as a vibrant reminder that we all play a role in nurturing the world around us. It celebrates the bees, butterflies, and pollinators that sustain our environment — and the people of Wellington who continue to protect, honor, and uplift them.

It is a piece of art created with the community, for the community, and inspired by the beautiful truth that when we work together, we all thrive.
